More about See Me Mommy: A Prenatal Experience

I am excited to introduce Rutherford County's first full service prenatal imaging center, offering 3D/4D ultrasounds using cutting-edge ultrasound technology. Our 4D ultrasound equipment provides a resolution and clarity unsurpassed in the industry.

Our facility offers elective 3D/4D prenatal ultrasounds for expectant mothers to provide a positive bonding experience for the mother, father, and family members with the unborn baby. With our state-of-the-art GE Voluson 730 Pro ultrasound equipment, activities of the baby inside the womb can be seen which are impossible to identify using 2D scanning. With 4D ultrasound scanning you will see your baby's motions in real time. See your baby yawn, cry, swallow, blink, open eyes, smile, suck fingers and toes, perform intricate finger movements, as well as witness other memorable movements. We have several packages to choose from that allow you to customize the experience you are looking for while choosing an option that best fits your budget. You may customize your session to include additional DVD's, CD's, or photos.

See Me Mommy is an elective 3D/4D ultrasound imaging facility. The 3D/4D ultrasound we provide DOES NOT take the place of routine prenatal care. All expectant mothers utilizing our services are required to be under the care of a physician or midwife and we ask that you speak with your healthcare provider about your intentions to visit See Me Mommy. Expectant mothers utilizing our services are required to have completed their first diagnostic ultrasound to evaluate for a healthy pregnancy and determine the due date prior to utilizing our services. We require that all mothers provide documentation of their prenatal care and most recent diagnostic ultrasound. Upon arrival to our facility, you will need to have completed three forms, including a Waiver and Release and Client Information Worksheet. Please visit our website, www.seememommy.net, to access the forms. The links to access the forms can be found on our home page. If you do not have a printer or are unable to access the forms on our website, we will mail you the forms for completion when you schedule your visit with us. Ultrasounds provided by See Me Mommy are purely elective and cannot be substituted for a diagnostic or medically indicated ultrasound. We DO NOT take measurements or determine due dates. However, if we are suspicious of a possible abnormality, your healthcare provider will be notified.

FAQs

What is four-dimensional (4D) ultrasound?
4D is shorthand for four-dimensional, the fourth dimension being time. As far as ultrasound is concerned, 4D is the latest ultrasound technology. 4D takes three-dimensional ultrasound images and adds the element of time to the process. This allows you to see your unborn baby in amazing real time detail.

Is ultrasound safe?
Our GE Voluson 730 ultrasound equipment is used by many of the nation's finest prenatal clinics and is as safe as the ultrasound equipment used by your healthcare provider. Ultrasound technology has been the subject of extensive clinical studies over the past 30 years and has not been shown to cause any harm to the mother or baby. While there has been no conclusive evidence for harmful effects of 3D/4D ultrasounds on a developing fetus, there still remains controversy over its use in non-medical situations, and generally, the AIUM (American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine) recommends that 3D/4D ultrasounds should be undertaken with the understanding that a risk may exist. We urge you to speak with your healthcare provider about the safety of ultrasound.

How early can you do gender determination?
Gender determination can be done any time after 14 weeks. At 15 weeks, the success rate for being able to see the sex is around 50%. At 16 weeks, the ability to find the sex and accuracy rises to 99%. Please be aware sometimes the baby may not be in a position to make a gender determination. If this occurs during your visit, we will schedule a free rescan to determine gender.

When is the best time for a 3D/4D ultrasound?
3D/4D ultrasounds are best done between 24 and 32 weeks, and ideally between 26 and 30 weeks. After 32 weeks, the fetus has descended into the pelvis. Clear images are possible to the end of pregnancy depending on the position of the baby, position of the placenta, and amount of amniotic fluid around the face.

Do I need an appointment?
Yes. Appointments are necessary for all of our services. Call or email us today to schedule your ultrasound appointment.

Can I bring my family and friends?
Yes! In fact, we encourage our clients to invite family and friends to attend the elective 4D ultrasound session. This is a joyous and wonderful experience to share with your family and loved ones if you choose to do so.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for my 3D/4D ultrasound session?
In order to get good images, we advise our clients to drink adequate amounts of water (32 ounces/day) for the one to two weeks prior to their appointment. This is in order to ensure there is an adequate amount of amniotic fluid around the fetus and that the fluid is clear. Drinking large amounts of water immediately before the 3D/4D ultrasound appointment does not help to have clearer 3D/4D ultrasound images.
