We believe that in order to have a fully functional and well-rounded self-defense system, we must not ignore or neglect any aspect of fighting or self-defense. Therefore we teach both standing (striking) and ground (grappling) fighting martial arts. Our standing martial art is Karate, and our ground martial art includes grappling techniques from traditional Karate and Brazilian and Japanese Jiu-Jitsu. Grappling is especially suited to defending oneself when being grabbed, knocked down, or thrown to the ground, which is where a majority of all real-life self-defense confrontations end.
