SERRMI Products, Inc.

The company was founded in 1969 with three employees and was basically a service company, providing services only for the Railway Industry until 1977; at which time, “Johnson Manufacturing Company” and “Southern Brass and Aluminum Company” were purchased.

Johnson Manufacturing Company was founded in 1912 and remained under the same ownership until purchased by “SERRMI”. “Johnson” manufactured electric transmission switches and accessories for the Electric Utility Industry and also proved to be an excellent “fit” as well for the Railway Industry. The fact that the Electric Utility Companies have done business with “Johnson” since 1912, illustrates the integrity of the company and its people and SERRMI saw the purchase as an excellent way to diversify and at the same time add to its “core competencies”.

Southern Brass and Aluminum Company, a non- ferrous foundry, was founded in 1904 and remained under the same ownership until purchased by “Johnson” in 1974. At the time of this purchase, SERRMI’s continued gains in market share for the Grade Crossing and Signals structures and assemblies segments of the Railway Industry provided clear cost/benefits for SERRMI and its customers.

The acquisition of “Johnson” and “Southern” enabled “SERRMI” to continue to provide products and services to the Electric Utility industry and additionally providing products to the railroad industry; such as metal fabrication and cast aluminum products.
SERRMI Products, Inc., became a manufacturing company with three divisions; “Johnson Manufacturing Company”; “Southern Brass and Aluminum Company”, whereby these divisions provided SERRMI Services, Inc., a third subsidiary of SERRMI Products, Inc., firm support for the Service/Construction work for the Railroad Industry.

During the late 1990’s, SERRMI Products, Inc. reorganized and restructured by way of sale or consolidation within of its SERRMI Services, Johnson Electric, and Southern Brass and Aluminum Company, resulting strictly as a manufacturing/fabrication of structures and assemblies for the Railway Wayside Signal and Communications segments of the Railway Industry.


All administrative business is conducted from our general offices at 5290 Tulane Drive, S.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30336, as well as manufacturing. SERRMI Products, Inc. retained its knowledge base and patterns for almost all of its cast products and continues to provide engineering services as needed, but is no longer directly engaged in the Electric Utility, Foundry, or Railway Service/Construction segments. SERRMI Products, Inc. strives to be acutely aware of its place and role within the Railway Industry and will continue to maintain sound business practices and employ flexibility to adapt and change to insure SERRMI Products, Inc. continued operations throughout this century.
