Sertomans donate their time in many ways, form operating the miniature train to installing flags. Sertoma's purpose for raising money is to return the money to the community in the form of scholarships and monetary gifts. Some organizations that have benefited include: Special Olympics, Salvation Army, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Cancer Society, Emporia Zoo, Hospice of the Flint Hills, Lyon County Historical Society, Peter Pan Park, United Way Of the Flint Hills, American Legion, Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts, D.A.R.E., Emporians for Drug Awareness, Learning Center, Presbyterian Manor, SOS, Arthritis Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Lyon County Crimestoppers, Northern Heights High School After Prom Party, 911 for Kids, Rescue Mission, USD 253 nurses audiometers, and the United Way.
