Seth Ward is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hale County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,926 at the 2000 census.HistoryIt is named for the Seth Ward College which was founded in 1910 by Seth Ward (Methodist bishop) who took over Central Plains College and Conservatory of Music (founded in 1907) to form Seth Ward College. The school burned in 1916 and was not rebuilt.The singer Jimmy Dean spent at least part of his childhood in the unincorporated community which is just northeast of Plainview, Texas. Dean was to attribute his music interest to the Seth Ward Baptist Church.
