More about Shadowland Foundation

Wolves as a keystone species are vital to the health of the environment. As a kindred species, they mimic human behavior more than any other species, and epitomize the very best of our nature. They have much to teach us about living in harmony with our own true, wild natures and with the environment. They remind us of the necessity to live within a community, a pack; responsible for itself as a whole and each and everyone of its members.

The enormous contribution of wolves to the environment has been uncovered since their re-introduction in the 1990’s to Yellowstone National Park after near extinction in 1974. Recently, wolves in the Northern Rockies have lost their Endangered Species status and the subsequent federal protections. Idaho and Montana are scheduled to begin hunting season in August, and now in Wyoming it is legal to shoot them on sight at any time. Wolves in the rest of the country are under similar threat including the near extinct Mexican wolves.

It is vital for the environment, the planet and ourselves, that the survival of wolves in the wild is ensured for generations to come.
Shadowland Foundation’s pack of ten wolves, serve as Ambassadors for the endangered Gray, Red and Mexican Gray wolves in the wild, and are very close in behavior to them, as you will see and experience up close and personal.
