1956-1960 Rypma’s Service Gas Station
1961-1962 Rypma’s Service Gas Station and Used Cars
1963-1970 Enco Service Station
1971-1972 Vacant
1973-1978 Szot’s Corner Inn Tavern. Stanley Szot (1928-1992)
1978, Dec 8 Rosko (Ron) Raczkiewicz and Bruno (Ed) Stone bought the tavern.
2004, Apr 15 Rosko (1939-2004) died leaving his wife, Pam, and Ed as current proprietors.

There have been many changes in the 38 years we have owned Shawmut Inn, the “Mutt”. You are the reason we are still here. We hope to continue our journey on this corner for a few more years. Thank you for your support.

Shawmut Inn is a local neighborhood restaurant at the corner of Collindale Avenue and Lake Michigan Drive, on the route from the city to Standale and Grand Valley State University beyond. We have four large screen television sets, two pool tables, Nudgemaster, Keno, and a fair number of video games to keep the bar hopping. It is our menu that shines. We offer Mexican fare, burgers, sandwiches, and a few dinners like wing dings and meatloaf. At Shawmut Inn, the wet burrito is king, but don’t overlook the fish tacos or wet tostadas. We recommend starting with the fried pickle spears, the best in GR. We run two specials during the week. We have burrito night on Mondays. You can get our regular large burrito for $7.50 or a small burrito for $6.50. Carry out is not included with the Monday special. Thursday is “Burger and Beer” night. You can order any half pound burger on the menu and a pint of any of our draft beers for $8.50.
