Shipstad Core Values

Mission: We exist to create a safe and fun Residence Hall for University of Portland Students so they can embody the UP mission of Teaching and Learning, Faith and Formation, and Service and Leadership. We dedicate our lives to making this experience the best possible because we see that Jesus lives in all of our students.

Promise: We provide the strong community of Shipstad because we believe that our residents need and value a home away from home.

Vision: To be seen as a close-knit family environment by Shipstad residents and the greater UP campus community.

Position: Our Residence Hall is the only dorm at UP that invites all of campus to be a part of our family.

Character: If we were a person, we would be Father Jim Lies, Pastoral Resident in Shipstad Hall until Spring 2012. Father Jim embodied joy, welcome, and strong community while in Shipstad, setting a precedent for years to come.

Story: Our brand is called Shipstad because we want campus to think of community and not isolation.

Mindshare: When you think of Shipstad, you see open doors and smiles, hear laughter, and feel welcome in your home.
