Basic Pistol Safety Course

Successful completion of this national course is a basic requirement prior to applying for a state pistol permit in Connecticut, New York and many other states. Students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety principals, shooting fundamentals, an overview of highlighted CT General Statute firearm laws and resource information on New York laws. A national written examination and a live-fire range qualification is conducted at each program. A certificate is provided to each student upon successful completion.

UTAH Concealed Firearm Permit

This four hour course teaches the necessary topics and techniques required to apply for a non-resident Utah Concealed Firearms pistol permit. Learn the fundamentals of firearms handlng and safety, plus Utah and Federal laws and regulations. Upon successful completion of the course you will recieve a course completion certificate, UTAH CFP Application and a copy of course material.

Personal Protection in the Home


This advanced eight-hour course is essential to the safe and efficient use of handguns for self-protection and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense from a home invasion or other violent attack.

Home Firearm Safety Course

This non-shooting beginners course teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and explains the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. The four-hour course for safe gun handling is conducted in the classroom only. This program is for all ages - from young mature teenagers through senior citizens - for those interested in learning about pistols, rifles, shotguns and/ or becoming reacquainted with the guns they already have.

Private Instruction: Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Beyond

Connecticut Firearms Training offers private, one-on-one instruction to help you learn new skills, or improve your current skills. You may use your own personal firearm(s) or ours.

Rifle and Shotgun Orientation & Training

This training is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation of rifles and shotguns. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular rifle model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the rifle & shotgun; and continued opportunities for skill development.



SHOOTERS opened under new management in August of 2009, as a public indoor pistol range and shooting center. The entire facility has been renovated with a state of the art ventilation system, secure video monitoring of all shooters, and new shooting stations all make for an enjoyable shooting experience. The range is designed for the enjoyment of all types of shooters, including individuals as well as families. We also have a state of the art class room for NRA training. If you are not a shooter you can sit in our lounge and watch TV or browse our store. We want you to have an enjoyable experience at SHOOTERS. We promise you will have a good time, and remember SAFETY IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY.

SHOOTERS Pistol range is clean and well lit. There are 12 stations designed for individual shooting in safety and comfort. All stations are easily accessible by wheelchair-bound & handicap shooters. State of the art equipment with an electrical target retrieval system allowing shooting at any distance from 18ft. to the maximum of 50ft. Backstops are designed to accept the shooting of calibers up to 1800 feet/second. This allows the use of most calibers up to a .44 Special with both jacketed and lead bullets. Also, .22 and pistol caliber rifles are allowed (consult Front Desk for clarification).
Shotguns (410g etc) or high power rifles such as 556/223 are not permitted.


Equipped with video monitors designed to maintain a safe and enjoyable shooting environment, the range is climate controlled for comfortable year round shooting.

To complement the range, an on-site retail shooting center is available offering a fully stocked store with a wide variety of firearms and accessories:
Basics - targets, ammo, ear & eye protection, cleaning supplies, holsters, etc.

New Firearms - A variety of carry, target and competition style firearms are on display. If we don't have what you are looking for, we can special order most items and have them in just a few days!

Rentals - For those who do not yet own a firearm or wish to try something different, we offer several selections of revolvers and semi-automatics from .22 to .45 caliber.
