Background : For years we were just like any other family owned and operated commercial cattle ranch, selling our calf crop off in the Fall at weaning. In 2009, we started to research out the grass fed market...hearing about the health benefits of grass fed beef. At that time, we decided to start making a shift into that market. In 2010, I had a major wake-up call as to my health....as I was diagnosed with brain tumor. A brain tumor that doctors say I have probably had for 20 years....a slow growing, benign tumor that had to come out! A life-changing....world-stopping event to say the least! It was especially a shock....as I had no symptoms. A night out for our anniversary dinner and I had a grand maul seizure...the first sign that anything was wrong.

Surgery on June 1, 2010 left me partially paralyzed....and the task of learning to walk again started weeks later. When I asked my doctor what causes these...he said it is not confirmed scientifically yet but in my opinion it's the meat we eat! The hormones, the antibiotics, the GMO feed in a feedlot etc. has all contributed to the poor health of America.

So with all that said, we are committed to raising healthy meat...and because I have been one that has suffered medically, I am a HUGE believer in watching what goes into my body now....and especially the meat.

Our operation consists of mostly black Angus cattle that have very good genetics. We are a super low stress operation and feed only organic grass and hay. Our winter feed (hay) is not "round-up" ready like so many feeds are. Our cattle are not fed grain to fatten but are finished on a high quality organic legume. The calves are never given any of the growth hormone injections and are given herbs at birth to help build their immune system early on. Our cattle are born on the place and butchered on the place...never to see a sales ring or kill plant. They are treated humanely and with respect.

There is a science to raising grass fed beef and we are continually learning and growing in this market. Our goal is not to become a huge commercial operation but rather to supply beef to a group of customers that want a personal and trustworthy relationship with the grower.
