More about Sierra College NCC

The faculty and staff of the Sierra College – Nevada County Campus welcome you. You may be considering college for the first time, interested in returning to college, preparing to transfer to a four-year college or university, wanting to improve your job skills or wanting to take classes for life-long learning and enrichment. Whatever your goals and interests, the faculty and staff of the Nevada County Campus want to help you succeed. This campus offers courses accepted by the University of California and California State University systems and many private colleges and universities as well as career technical education courses designed to help students improve their job skills. Approximately 3,000 students are enrolled.

Thanks to the generous support of the citizens of Western Nevada County, this campus is nearing completion of its second phase of construction funded by $44,400,00 in bonds. The campus has roughly doubled in size since it opened in 1996. Of the six new buildings, the main instructional building, 2D Art and 3D Art buildings opened for summer school in 2009. The Wellness Center for cardio and weight training physical education opens for fall 2010. The Multipurpose Center and Gym open for spring 2011. Bond funds also provided much needed renovation of many original buildings such as Student Services, the Student Center and the Science building.

Sierra College – Nevada County Campus is also home to the Ghidotti Early College Program and a Child Development Center. The Ghidotti Early College Program serves students from the Nevada Joint Union High School District who take college classes along with their high school courses. Students admitted to this program may attend beginning in the 9th grade. During the 2010 NCC Commencement, several students from this program earned associates degrees. All of the graduating high school seniors had earned at least 30 units applicable for transfer to a four-year college or university. The Child Development Center is operated through a partnership between the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools and Sierra College. Toddler and pre-school age children attend this best-practices center.
