About The House.....

Simply Fresh Bistro is a restaurant and small gift boutique located on East Main Street in the Historic District of League City. We occupy The Historic Lawrence Home, originally located on property at the north corner of Iowa and East Main Street.
The house was built after the 1900 Storm, probably in 1905. This two-story structure is built of cypress and debris recovered from that storm. The staircase lends to the simplicity of the house. Original wide flooring is found throughout the house. Several rooms feature beaded ceilings. Many of the original window panes are still in place. The most noteworthy feature of the house is the distinctive copper roof which was added in 1915.
Elmer and Eliza Jane Lawrence moved to League City in 1907 and purchased the house in 1910. Their business, Lawrence Broom & Mop, was one of the oldest and longest running businesses in League City. They were very active in the Friends Church of League City. Mr. Lawrence preceded his wife in death. In 1955, after Mrs. Lawrence’s death, the home was sold to the Friends Church for a parsonage. Kenneth Miller was the first Friends Minister to live in the parsonage. In August of 1957, Jack Pierce became the Pastor of the Friends Church and lived in the parsonage until 1963. After the Friends Church vacated the premises, the building was moved to face Iowa Avenue and became a rental property.
In 1990, the Lawrence Home was in a sad state of repair and that owner offered the house to anyone who would move it to another location so he might have access to the land. It was moved to its present location at 1013 East Main and has been refurbished and preserved, making it truly a unique property which now is home to a special restaurant.

About Us.......

We are a family owned business. Our menu includes fresh salads, soups, sandwiches and home cooked specialties from family recipes. We are best known for our chicken salad and tomato basil soup. Other favorites include Grandma Birdie's King Ranch chicken and Big Al's Meatloaf Sandwich. To complete your meal, you will have difficulty resisting our delectable desserts, including chocolate cake,lemon zest cake, mandarin orange cake, bread pudding or Grandma Ewend's lemon bars - to name a few. Our tea service includes a selection of hot green, black and white teas served in a tea-for-one. The house favorite is Hot cinnamon spice. We also serve wine & beer.

We look forward to serving you and make note that Reservations are recommended, as occasionally, the house is booked for a private function.

Our house is an ideal atmosphere for an intimate gathering of family and friends and is also a nice venue for entertaining business associates or clients.
