Simply Good Kitchen

We (Bill and Shanny) met 20 years ago at the Culinary Institute of America (the other CIA). After graduation, we worked in San Francisco, Sundance, Utah and Santa Fe, New Mexico before settling in Royal Oak , MI. (Royal Oak is Shanny's home town. Bill's home town is Portland, Oregon.)

We created Simply Good in 2002 with cooking classes out of our own home. (We started with 1 student in our first class. We were teaching 3 times a week and soon we had 16 students per class, teaching 7 times a week.) As business grew, our house changed with it. Our living room became a prep-kitchen and our dining room transitioned into a retail store. As the business continued to grow, we moved our cars out of the garage and brought in a commercial refrigerator and freezer.

After 5 years of teaching in our home, we ran out of room. Our inability to break down a load-baring wall to enlarge the space lead to our renting a retail storefront in Birmingham, our current location.

We have published two cookbooks - "Simply Good Kitchen" and "More Recipes and Tips from Simply Good Kitchen."

Our retail store offers bistro style gourmet food to-go, kitchen tools and ingredients we use in our own kitchen and our popular cookbooks.
