In 1995 Kala moved from Hawaii to Las Vegas to further his education in the culinary arts.

While in Vegas Kala was offered an apprenticeship in body piercing and began his career in modification.
In 1999 Kala left Vegas to open his own shop ,Sin city Body Modification and Tattoo,on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Kala offers many forms of modification including piercing, scarification, electrocautery branding, genital beading, and ritual suspension and has several artist that work at Sin City as well.

Kala prides himself on constantly learning new techniques and procedures to be on the forefront of modification culture.

Kala's shop continues to grow and be highly recognized throughout the island chain known for its cleanliness,sterility and professionalism.
