Philosophy
Writing enables individuals to logically and coherently communicate an idea to an audience; furthermore, it assists in the formulation of organized structures that can be utilized with authority and confidence when in conversation. We encourage students to view writing as a process that is as much an individual as it is a collaborative activity with an emphasis on revision and reader feedback. However, we also understand that often it is only by reading critically that students begin to formulate advanced writing techniques and improve the nature and presentation of ideas. Thus, the Writing Center serves the university as an open and diverse place where a critical, yet philosophical, level of discussion can transpire concerning writing and ideas related to such an endeavor.
