Skagit Search and Rescue Council

Skagit Search & Rescue Council is a nonprofit, community oriented and volunteer based organization. Skagit Search & Rescue was established in 1966 to coordinate mutual search and rescue work and joint operational procedures in and around Skagit County. For over 45 years, Skagit Search and Rescue has served Skagit County as an integral and irreplaceable component of the community. Search and rescue missions are preformed under the direction of the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office minimal cost to the public or the subjects.

Most members must provide their own transportation and all of their own personal gear. In addition to joint training sessions, personnel undergo intensive training in search operations and rescue procedures as well as wilderness survival and first aid.

Officially formed in 1999, the Skagit Search & Rescue Council seeks to preserve life and health through training, search and rescue techniques and proactive education.

Each year the Skagit Search & Rescue Council distributes funds to each of the many search and rescue teams in Skagit county for training personnel or purchasing equipment.

The Skagit Search & Rescue Council relies 100% on donations made by the general public. We are a registered 501(c)3 organization.

If you receive a phone call from any organization claiming to do so, please get details of who is calling, from where and what they are doing, then pass that information along to us so we can attempt to stop the fraudulent efforts that are being made in the name of Search and Rescue.
