More about Skunk Woodworking

How we came about: It all started with a skunk, me needing a jewelry box and " We need a hobby". One morning we were smoking on the front porch and suddenly Ricky's eyes got big. Right next to the porch in the bushes was a black and white creature. There had been a skunk wandering around the place recently so we got out the binoculars and camera zoom, quietly. It was only ten feet away, but between the door and garage door. This would not do. It was difficult to tell. We tried "kitty, kitty" several times, no response. There had been a gully washer over night and it was still raining. Into the house onto the computer the research began. How to remove a skunk humanely without causing it to spray. After an hour, and a couple of trips to the door we concluded skunks do not like light or water, so Ricky got out the hose and stood on the other side of the porch while I peeked out of the door, with a camera of course. The corner of the house got sprayed with a heavy dose of water. Nothing, it didn't move. We tried kitty, kitty again. Finally, we sprayed right into the bush It sort of shook and a noise came from the bush, a sort of screech. We looked at each other and one of us queried "what kind of sound does a skunk make?" It definitely wasn't a cat noise. "We are doomed, this place is gonna reek for days," were our thoughts. A little more water was the answer and out staggered the most pitiful half starved kitten we had ever seen in our lives. Mission changed from vermin eradication to kitty rescue - food, water and a warm bed. For the next few weeks skunk changed our lives completely which is funny because neither one of us are cat lovers and there we were in the pet aisle every shopping trip buying the better food, toys and researching kitty care. We named him Skunk and he went every where we did when we were at home, which was rarely. We had to find a home for him, but when our woodworking hobby grew to more items than our house could hold and we needed a name for our business it took us no time to decide. We named it after Skunk. Last we heard Skunk is happy and spoiled rotten. :)
