Skyline High School is a public high school in Longmont, Colorado, United States. It is part of the St. Vrain Valley School District. Current enrollment at the school is approximately 1260 students, in grades 9-12. The school mascot is the Falcon, and the school colors are red and gold.HistoryThe school was built in 1978 to accommodate the growing population on the east side of Longmont. The name "Skyline" was chosen by students.AthleticsSHS is a member of the Colorado High School Activities Association . Skyline High School competes in Class 4A athletics. The school has won multiple state championships in baseball, boys' and girls' basketball, football, women's golf, swimming, track and field, and volleyball. The varsity plays their home games at Everly Montgomery Field, located on the campus of crosstown rivals Longmont High School.AcademicsSkyline High School is home to the only STEM program and the VPA Academy in the St. Vrain Valley School District. Students can earn both STEM and VPA certificates upon graduation, the first being Michael Greenlee . Even though SHS has consistently scored low on the Colorado Student Assessment Program, the school has seen an improvement in all categories in recent years.Skyline High offers an Honors Certification Program that provides enrichment in various curricular areas. Students who meet set requirements in honors courses, extra-curricular activities, and community service requirements, along with maintaining a GPA of 3.25, are issued an Honors Certificate.SHS also offers a unique partnership with Front Range Community College of Longmont that allows students to take college-level classes at the high school for both high school and college credit at no cost. Courses include Physical Anthropology, Art History, Astronomy, Macroeconomics, English Composition, French Language, Music Appreciation, Public Speaking, General Psychology.
