Information & Referral: @SLIC serves as a referral source answering specific questions from consumers and the general public about disability issues. @SLIC maintains a database of information about facilities and resources related to disability, and when appropriate, @SLIC makes referrals to other service providers.
Independent Living Skills Training: @SLIC assists consumers by teaching and practicing the skills which will increase independence. Such skills may include: nutrition, cooking, menu-planning, transportation access training, health care and financial management.
Peer Counseling: @SLIC shares knowledge, skills, and disability-related experiences in group sessions, or one-on-one. @SLIC also provides sharing of opinions, feelings, problems and solutions.
Advocacy: @SLIC provides information and support concerning legal and civil rights, available benefits, and housing accessibility issues, for persons with disabilities. @SLIC also provides technical assistance and support to any business regarding Americans with Disabilities Act(ADA) compliance issues, with on-site reviews provided upon request and recommendations.
Transitioning: From a nursing home into the community from high school into the workforce.
