Slide Ranch

Founded in the same year as Earth Day, Slide Ranch was an early leader in the food sustainability movement. Since 1970, more than 200,000 visitors have experienced this inspiring place.

Slide Ranch teaches visitors the impact our choices have on food, health, and the environment, through hands-on activities and independent exploration of our farm and coastal wild lands. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of our partners and donors to support our life-changing environmental educational programs for all.

With this support, we are proud to welcome and educate 8,000 visitors annually, 4,000 of whom participate in our School and Community Programs. Nearly half of these participants are from low-income communities and we work hard to ensure that no one is turned away for lack of funds. As part of our commitment to inclusion, we have a sliding scale policy, and thanks to generous donors, we heavily subsidize the visits of disadvantaged youth and families. When we see the face of a child light up as they eat the food they harvested fresh from the garden, hold a chicken, or see the ocean for the first time, we know that their experience here has had a positive impact. We’ve awakened their curiosity. We’ve made a difference.

When you or your family or your child's school or community group comes to Slide Ranch, they are immersed in the world of a working farm and the extraordinary nature that surrounds our coastal location. During our programs, you could milk a goat, bake bread, go on a hike, learn about native plants and wild animals, explore tide pools, create nature-based crafts, spin yarn and more.
