Sling Shot Charlie's

I was born and raised on Centerpoint Road and in the Gallaway community. I have many memories of this town. One vivid memory is Slingshot Charlie. Every time we rode through Gallaway, I’d noticed him walking down the road always shooting his slingshot at something!!! I’ve always laughed and thought if I ever put a restaurant in Gallaway, I'd name it after Slingshot Charlie and here it is!!! I appreciate many things about the south but the land and the eccentric characters have always inspired me the most. Through the years, as old homes were destroyed in the community, I have tried to save remnants of how Gallaway used to be; an old Southern town always struggling but proud. I’m drawn to things with history. From the pictures of local families decorating the walls, to the tables and chairs and even the old wood on the counter, everything here has been lovingly placed, full of memories, hard work, and a great sense of community.

Slingshot Charlie’s serves authentic southern comfort food. Everything is made from scratch using family recipes taught to me by my Mother, Annie Morrisson. She cooked 3 meals with love, from scratch, EVERYDAY for her family of 8. When she wasn’t in the kitchen or taking care of us, she was tending to her garden, quilting or volunteering for her church or the farm bureau. She was the epitome of grace. While she was well respected in the community for her kind demeanor and dedication to helping others, she was most renowned for her cooking talents. I am very grateful and fortunate to have had such an incredible teacher, in my opinion she was the best cook in the world! Sooo come on in and enjoy Miss Annie's gift to us and my dedication to her, SLINGSHOT CHARLIE’S!
