Smart Beginnings Shenandoah Valley

Smart Beginnings is an initiative of the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation (VECF), a public-private foundation dedicated to improving school readiness for all young children, ages birth-5 years. VECF disperses funds to local coalitions throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia in order to implement long-term strategies to help strengthen local and regional partnerships and to support children’s growth and development.
Smart Beginnings Shenandoah Valley is a collaboration of parents, early childhood educators, and community leaders from businesses, health care, school systems, nonprofits and public agencies who are working together to ensure that all children in the central Shenandoah Valley enter kindergarten healthy and prepared to succeed.
We proudly serve children and families in the counties of Augusta, Page, Rockingham, and Shenandoah. We also serve the cities of Harrisonburg, Staunton, and Waynesboro.
