John Clark & Alec Chesley are the owners of Smart Energy Solutions. Alec & John opened Smart Energy in March of 2009. Prior to opening this location they spent 3 years selling & researching pellets & pellet stoves. When they realized the impact of alternative heating solutions and they found a perfect location in Grant, MI they knew it was a great opportunity. John & Alec are proud to have this family run and operated business in a small community, close to home. Occasionally you may see one of their wives or children “helping” around the store.

Alec Chesley also owns convenience stores in the local area and has been a lifetime resident of Newaygo. Alec has burned many varieties of pellet stoves in his own home, so that he can get a 1st hand understanding of the products that are sold at Smart Energy.

John Clark grew up working for his Grandfather and Father in the Construction business. John has spent most of his life learning and perfecting how to make a home functional as well as efficient. This skill has been essential when helping customers of Smart Energy choose the perfect heating option and installation process. John has also burned a wood boiler in his own home and has learned many tips and tricks about boilers.

Smart Energy Solutions carries several brands of pellets & coal as well as stoves that are pellet, coal, multi-fuel and Wood Boilers. We are happy to be a part of a small community and look forward to helping you with any of your needs.
