More about Snohomish Youth Soccer Club

The Recreational division of Snohomish Youth Soccer Club is a non-profit dedicated to the task of promoting and enhancing the culture of soccer. Our goal is to provide children of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to develop technically, physically, mentally, and socially in a positive, supportive, and safe environment. We promote and encourage high standards of sportsmanship, fair play, good citizenship, and community involvement.

Micros
U5 to U-7 teams play "Micro" soccer. It involves short games on small fields with no goalkeeper or referees and 3 players to a side. This allows these young players plenty an opportunity to run and get a maximum number of touches on the ball, without worrying a lot about playing positions. Micro teams play only other SYSC micro teams. Teams may or may not be coed.

The game is the great teacher. Micro Soccer simplifies the rules so that the game is age-appropriate, easy to learn, and Fun. This provides an environment where the players can develop their soccer skills and will learn over time where to position themselves on the field. By letting the kids learn at their own rate, without the pressure to perform, they will become life-long lovers of the game.

Mod
U-8 to U-10 teams play Modified or "Mod" soccer, which involves half- or three-quarter-size fields and goals, and introduces goalkeepers. U-8 teams play 4-a-side with a size 3 ball. U-9 teams play 5-a-side with a size 4 ball. U-10 teams play 6-a-side with a size 4 ball.

All aspects of the league play are organized and managed by North County Youth Soccer Assoc (NCYSA). Games are played against neighboring clubs: Monroe, Lake Stevens, Everett, Granite Falls, etc. Licensed referees are used; scores are kept.

Majors
U-11 teams play 9-a-side with a size 4 ball on full size goals. This is the final transition to full field soccer.

U-12 to U18 teams plays full size fields and goals, 11-a-side, including goalkeeper. U-12 teams use a size 4 ball. U-13 teams and above uses a size 5 ball (official size). Licensed referees are used when available. If not coaches may be asked to referee the game. Scores are kept and league standings monitored by NCYSA.
