Soap Creator's Workshop

You're going to love making homemade soap. It's so much fun!

Here are a couple details about the event:

The cost is $15/person. You will learn the procedure and then make your own customized soap to take home. Each person will receive their own ingredients: coconut oil, lye, liquid (water or goat milk) and scenting oils. Also, you get a 5x7in mold that is easy to transport home. It makes 4 large bars or 6 smaller squares. You will have to cut your soap 24-48 hours after you make it. I will also have shaped soap molds for purchase for $2/each and my own homemade soap bars available for $4/each.

You don't need to bring anything. However, if you want to bring your own soap molds, scenting or essential oils, or additives like leaves, fruit peels, oats or spices you're more than welcome.

NOTE: If you own heavy duty rubber gloves or protective eye gear feel free to bring them. I have several but extra is always nice.

WARNING: Soap is not very hard to make but you should take note of some precautions. Sodium Hydroxide or Lye is very caustic and should be handled carefully! It's similar to handling bleach. (I suggest not having little ones close by because of the potential dangers.) Wearing long sleeves and using safety goggles and gloves is a good idea for protection. I personally don't like wearing goggles so that's up your discretion. I keep vinegar (acid) handy to neutralize the lye (base) but each person will be responsible for their own safety.
