More about Society for the Rational Study of Religion

The "rational study of religion" isn't really an oxymoron... but it's does contend with the notion that, "you can't win an emotional debate with a logical argument"... (Ed Rollins?) The rational study of religion doesn't mean lack of faith any more than the irrational study of religion indicates its presence in abundance...

“... Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”...Matthew 18:3. Does this mean we should always be childlike regarding religion, spirituality and faith? SRSR believes there are times to be childlike but even when it comes to seeking and worshiping God there's nothing wrong with acting like adults. In 1 Corinthians 13:11 Paul says, "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me." So should we act like children or "put childish ways behind." If you say I'm taking these out of context I can only respectfully disagree.

Faith is wonderful, blind faith something else and misplaced faith a prelude to disaster. There's nothing wrong with subjecting religious "truths" to a little scrutiny and if valid they should be just fine.

SRSR was conceived with the idea that people with inquiring minds, have the right and responsibility to approach religion and spirituality with eyes, ears and minds open and a smile on our face:)
