Soldier's Best Friend

• #Veterans diagnosed with combat-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (#PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (#TBI) apply for admission to our program.
• Once accepted into our program, the veteran is paired with a rescued dog or their own personal dog.
• Together, the veteran/dog team begins training with our professional trainers. Training is designed for a PTSD Service Dog or Therapeutic Companion Dog.
• A Service or Therapeutic Companion Dog provides constant support that can make it easier for veterans to readjust to civilian life and manage the symptoms of PTSD or TBI
• The veteran/dog team attends classes twice weekly for approximately 6 months of training and mentoring.
• Currently, classes/training are offered in Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff, Prescott and Sierra Vista.
• Following successful completion of the program, veteran and dog graduate.
• Ongoing support and involvement are offered for graduated teams. Mentoring veterans new to the program is encouraged.
