Sonny’s Body Shop opened its new facility at 1824 Cass Hartman Court in Traverse City. The 18,000 square foot service center takes the place of the original shop located on an adjacent property.

The state-of-the-art facility includes a drive-up estimating garage, environmentally friendly spray booths, energy efficient lighting and a coffee bar.

Formally the site of a machine shop and vacant at the time of acquisition, Sonny’s new service center houses more than twice the bays of its former location. “Our team did an outstanding job with the limited space they had before,” said co-owner Robert Valleau about the former 6,000 square foot shop. Nevertheless, steady growth since Valleau and co-owner Doug Rice purchased the business in 2005 necessitated an expansion. “The additional space allows flexible scheduling, reducing customer wait times and improving their overall experience,” said Rice.

Locally owned and operated since 1980, Sonny’s Body Shop specializes in complete body and framework on all makes and models including heavy trucks and RVs. Guaranteeing collision work for as long as the customer owns the vehicle, Sonny’s Body Shop works with all insurance companies and provides free estimates.
