Humane Society of Sonoma County

The Sonoma Humane Society has a long and proud history of animal rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of animals into loving homes. Founded in 1931, we are a non-profit, charitable organization funded solely by donations. The Sonoma Humane Society’s high level of medical care, socialization, and training for the shelter animals sets us apart from other shelters and is an example of the care every animal needs and deserves. Animals at the Sonoma Humane Society are cared for until they find a new home, including those that are sick or injured, those that may need behavior training or simply those that need the gift of time. Adoptable animals are never euthanized due to age or lack of space. In addition to our core mission of rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals, the Sonoma Humane Society also serves thousands of people in our community. Each and every animal we care for, in turn provides care and companionship to many people. Through education and special assistance programs for children, teens, adults and senior citizens, we strive to teach, nurture and evolve the relationship between animals and people.
