South Beach is a census-designated place (CDP) on Orchid Island in Indian River County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,457 at the 2000 census. The population density was 1,279.8 people per square mile (494.4/km²). There were 2,066 housing units at an average density of 764.9/sq mi (295.4/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.15% White, 0.58% African American, 0.09% Native American, 1.01% Asian, 0.06% from other races, and 0.12% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.36% of the population.
