South View High School

South View High School is a high school in Hope Mills, North Carolina. It is a member of Cumberland County Schools (CSS). It serves students from Ninth through Twelfth grade. Adjacent to South View High School is South View Middle School. Enrollment of students is approximately 1900, placing the school under the NCHSAA 4-AA classification. South View has a rich history in athletic and academic excellence.AcademicsAcademic programs in the school include the International Baccalaureate Academy and the Academy of Public Safety and Security. The graduating class of 2007 received 2.6 million dollars in scholarships alone. The principal is Brian Edkins as of 2010.AthleticsWith the girls' Basketball team winning the 2007 NCHSAA 4A Title. The Men's Cross Country team has won the Conference Championship 18 years consecutively, the Eastern Regional three times in the past five years, winning runner-up the other two times, and won the 4A Cross Country title in 2003 while receiving runner-up in 2002 and has placed in the Top 10 all other years. The Women's Cross Country team is also a force to be reckoned with winning their share of Eastern Regionals and Conference Championships. Both Men's and Women's Outdoor Track has won Conference Championships ten years in a row. The football team at South View is the center of all attention during the fall season. The team has consistently won Conference Championships and has reached the state title game numerous times winning the title in 1991. The softball team was coached by the Mayor of Hope Mills, Eddie Dees before stepping down in 2007. Regardless, he still holds the record for most wins in North Carolina softball history.
