Dr. Kevin Speer's orthopedic practice is devoted to conditions involving the shoulder, elbow, knee, foot, and ankle and pain or discomfort from soft tissue including the ligaments, tendons, or cartilage. These conditions may have arisen from injury (athletic or accidental), overuse, or degenerative conditions.
Injuries are evaluated first with the question as to whether non-invasive (rehabilitative) approaches are appropriate; when necessary, surgical intervention through arthroscopic, minimally invasive surgery, and/or reconstruction of the joints is considered.
In addition to arthroscopic surgery, Dr. Kevin Speer specializes in open surgery on the shoulder including rotator cuff repair, total shoulder replacement, and fracture fixation. Acromioclavicular (AC ) joint, clavicle, and scapula surgery are also areas of expertise; knee surgery including ligament reconstruction and arthritis treatment are performed.
The physicians place a strong emphasis on post-surgical rehabilitation through physical therapy with the goal of returning the patient to work or sport at as full a level a possible as quickly as possible.
