Southern Elegance

Thanks for visiting Southern Elegance. Pull up a rocking chair while I pour you a glass of sweet tea and we get to know each other. I'm a country girl raised on a farm in the South. I'm now married, moved further south and have too many animals to count. There's not much that I don't like to do...sewing, shopping, cooking, eating, decorating, designing, home improvement, gardening, driving farm equipment...yep, you name it and I've probably had my hand in it more than once and loved it. I love antiques, vintage items, re-purposing those blasts from the past to make something useful today, photography, animals and last but definitely not least - chocolate!! Oh yeah, one more thing, I'm a true "Southerner" so don't be surprised by my vernacular.
Southern Elegance was born in my heart and encouraged by friends, family and my dear husband in December of 2013. I knew I wanted to start making and finding a home for all of these wonderful things I could see in my imagination. In early 2014, we bought a 1970's Scotty camper for next to nothing. We then stripped it down to exactly that...next to nothing. Lol, my husband says we basically bought the wheels, axle, hitch and exterior walls. He put in a new subfloor over the 15' length, new walls, new ceiling, lights ($40 light scored for $6 at Lowes)(I forgot to add up there that bargain shopping gets me on a major high!!), laminate flooring, re-purposed a vintage desk and turned that destined for the junkyard travel trailer into my brand new sewing studio. My lil studio on wheels is blocked up behind our house and it is my little retreat from the world, my house and furry and feathered "kids". I love to open the curtains and watch the wind blow the Spanish moss in that huge old oak tree at the back of the yard. After working in the corporate world for eight years, my "corner office with a view" just can't be beat. Lol, in fact all four corners are mine and they all have a view!! :-D
