Engineering and Design Technology program prepares students to become Drafters. Drafters prepare drawings based on sketches, specifications, and calculations made by engineers, architects, and designers. These final drawings will contain detailed views of an object, specifications for materials, and other information required to fully carry out the job.
Drafters today use many tools to develop detailed drawings, and models. The Engineering Graphics and Design lab at SUSCC offer up to date software from industry leaders: AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, Solid Edge, as well as laser cutters and large format printers for prototyping parts.
Southern Union State Community College was recently awarded curriculum certification from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) with a Design Drafter certification.
