Southwest Minnesota Small Business Development Center

The SBDC is a joint venture of federal, state and the private sector. This includes the United States Small Business Administration (SBA), Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU). In addition, numerous counties and the private sector provide funding to the SBDC program. It is through the generosity of our partners that SBDC services are provided at no cost to the small businesses in southwest Minnesota.

The Southwest Minnesota SBDC has been hosted by Southwest Minnesota State University for over thirty years. The Regional Center is located on the campus of SMSU with Professional Business Consultants located throughout our eighteen county region.

Your SBDC develops and maintains partnerships among community and regional organizations and local, state and federal agencies, providing access to a broad network of public and private resources that you can tap. Our consultants provide relevant and realistic advice. While we do not administer loan or grant programs, we help businesses assess and identify funding options and opportunities, and prepare documentation that lenders require.
