Spann Vineyards

Spann Vineyards and winery, owned by winemakers Betsy and Peter Spann, is in the Mayacamas Mountains of Glen Ellen. They produce unique grape variety blends, built on a European model of complexity, balance, full flavor and elegance. Their wines are enjoyable upon release but will also improve with bottle age. “Enjoyable” is a key word because every wine and food experience should bring great enjoyment.

Betsy and Peter believe that blending grape varieties and vineyard sites builds complex aromas and flavors and that wines match best with food when they have proper balance between fruit, acidity, alcohol, tannin and oak so that each component compliments rather than overpowers the others.

White wines currently produced are: Chardonnay, Betsy's Backacher (Semillon/Chardonnay blend) and Yin-Yang (Chardonnay/Viognier blend).

Red wines produced are: Betsy's Backacher (Syrah/Zin/Cab. Sauv. blend), Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cross Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot, The Classic Four (Bordeaux-style blend), OMG (Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend), Cinsault, Mourvedre, Mo Zin (Zinfandel/Mourvedre/Syrah blend), Zinfandel, Tempranillo, S & M (Syrah/Merlot blend), The Powerlifter (Petite Sirah/Cinsault/Grenache/Syrah blend)
