Sparkroot Farm

Located on nine acres of North Carolina’s Piedmont, near the sweet little small town of Pittsboro, a hub of sustainability and local economy; were just a short drive away from the college town of Carrboro, Raleigh and Chapel Hill where you’ll find an incredible local foods and music scene. Sparkroot is a teaching farm and expanding market garden, a community gathering space, teaching and cross-cultural learning place. We tend our Village conservation burial ground and offer funeral services to our community. We milk goats, keep bees, pigeons and chickens, and cultivate connection between each other and this land that claims us. We are atop a hill surrounded by a grove of ancient grandmother oaks, nestled into 150 acres of woods with access to square miles of woodland trails. Our cooperative permaculturally-designed farm field is two acres grown with the love and care of many hands and hearts from around the world. Aside from care of livestock and farm work, we have a deep need for strong & willing hands with skills in carpentry and fencing.
We unschool, and welcome kind, conscientious, like-minded others to join us in 24 hours of work per week. We generally need help from March until November, but there is plenty to do all year round. We speak English, but aspire to speak more Spanish. Tenting spots are plentiful in our woodland, we have two airstreams and a bell tent, with access to main house great room gathering space, shared kitchen, wifi, laundry and shower facilities. We have a composting/sawdust outhouse we prefer to be used outdoors. We invite you to check our website out to see more about who we are.
