Specialized Land Services is a Birmingham based company that offers land clearing through the process of forestry mulching. Forestry mulching is a relatively new process of turning trees, brush and stumps into ground mulch. This is accomplished with the use of a skidsteer machine equipped with a rotary drum mulching head. The head contains many steel teeth which cut, shred and grind all vegetation in its path. Mulching is an environmentally friendly process. The mulch is spread evenly over the entire cutting area. This limits re-growth, prevents erosion, replenishes the topsoil base and leaves the land visually appealing. Unlike traditional clearing methods, there is no burning, no brush piles and no scarred land. Damage to "keeper" trees is greatly reduced because forestry mulching protects the vital topsoil layer and delicate feeder roots. When the job is complete, the landowner is left with a fresh carpet of mulch which naturally decomposes into rich topsoil. Mulching is generally faster and more cost effective than traditional land clearing methods.
