Spokane Street Outreach

Walk down the street and you will see many people who are homeless, hungry, and seriously lacking in their life. We look to the government to resolve this, but it ends up creating a system of dependency and a poverty mindset. Our goal is to help the less fortunate and homeless in our community, as can be seen many aspects of the Bible and that of the Christian . Not a handout, but a hand up! We are being the Ambassadors of God that we are asked to be, and being Jesus to those around us- outside the 4 walls of the church, loving people as He loved others.

We need to become the change we want to see, the change we expect everyone else to complete. Lets start acting NOW. Lets start taking care of our people NOW.

"If there is a poor man among you in any of the towns which you live, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand to your poor brother, but you shall open your hand to him, and lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks" Deut 15:7

"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter — when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?" Isaiah 58:6-7

"All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do." Galatians 2:10

"Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need." 1 Timothy 5:3

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

"Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, 'Here's a good seat for you,' but say to the poor man, 'You stand there' or 'Sit on the floor by my feet,' have you not discriminated among yourselves and becomes judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom He promised those who love Him? But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?" James 2:2-6

"If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." 1 John 3:17-18
