Spring Oaks Farm is a 127 acre family owned, pasture-based farm using sustainable, “beyond organic” methods to produce artisan food products in balance with nature. Our mission is to produce delicious, safe, nutritionally dense food while providing the most humane, comfortable, natural lives for our animals. To us that means that each animal should be able to live out its’ existence on clean, fresh pasture and be able to express its’ individual natural instincts (i.e. cattle and sheep are permitted to graze fresh forage and are never fed grain, pigs are allowed to root, wallow, and farrow on-pasture, and the chickens are able to scratch through manure piles and eat bugs.) We do not use routine antibiotics, hormones, chemical wormers, or genetically modified organisms on our farm. All ruminant animals are entirely forage fed. Poultry and pigs are fed a Certified Organic, soy-free feed as well as organically grown feed produced here on the farm.
Diversity is key in nature and our farm is no-different. Our pastures are made up of a polyculture of forage species including grasses, legumes, and weeds; each providing a separate component to the diet of the animals. We never use chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Our pastures are maintained and fertility is achieved by a strict program of rotational, successional grazing.
