More about Squalid Manor

Appleton's latest and most squalid house show venue featuring both outdoor patio shows and living room shows. Glad to be supporting the local music scene and making new friends along the way.

Squalid Manor is also a historic home and part of the Wisconsin Register of Historic Places.

Also known as The George Baldwin House started as a Tudor Revival when built in 1891 but with significant renovations and additions in the 1920's took on a Arts & Crafts / Craftsman / Mission interior.

"Judge George Baldwin built this Tudor Revival home in 1891. By 1908 son George Benjamin Baldwin and his mother Catherine had moved to 394 Cherry (now 621 W. Fourth St., the house having been moved to the present location in the 1950s.) Another son, Charles F. Baldwin and his wife Margaret Weiland Baldwin made their home here and were still living here in 1940. The 1940 census lists Mary M. Weiland as a 31 year old maid in the home. This may have been a relative of Margaret Weiland Baldwin, but it was not her sister Mary, who would have been about 70 years old in 1940.

Baldwin family members resided here until 1984." --focol.org/oldthirdward/state707.html
