St. Gerald Jonathan Collins Activity Center

The St. Gerald’s Activity Center is named in memory of Lance CPL Jonathan W. Collins, of the United States Marine Corp. During his service to our country, he died on August 8, 2004, due to enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was only 19 years old. Jonathan is the grandson of John & Alice Collins, who are long time parishioners of St. Gerald.

Jonathan was born December 31, 1984 in Oak Lawn, Illinois. In high school he played soccer and participated in high school drama. After high school, Jonathan enlisted in the US Marine Corp on June 10, 2003. After graduating boot camp he attended the School of Infantry, and reported to Second Battalion, Fourth Marine Regiment. Assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Platoon, 2nd Squad he was deployed to Ramadi, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.

He is survived by his parents, Jack and Angela Collins of Crystal Lake, Illinois, his older brother Brandon, and two younger sisters, Lauren and Devon.
