St James Parish of Reading City Church

St James, West Reading, was founded over 100 years ago and had a solid history and a big influence on the community of West Reading. Like many mainline denominations in recent history, numbers began to decline and serious consideration were talked about for the future of the church.

Meanwhile, in 2010, Reading City Church (Facebook.com/ReadingCityChurch), a mostly young adult church, began at the Reading Movies 11 & IMAX. The desire of RCC, was to have numerous Biblical & healthy neighborhood parishes throughout Berks County, all having a heart for the city of Reading.

Through numerous fruitful conversations and prayer between the leadership of both churches, St James became the first neighborhood parish of RCC in 2014. The marriage of the two churches has been a beautiful testament to the relational harmony that comes about by putting Jesus & His mission first.

In December of 2015, RCC planted a second neighborhood Parish back in the city (Facebook.com/CenterCityRCC). We are looking to plant our next neighborhood parish within the next 3 years.

Meanwhile, our desire is to continue to get to know, to serve and love the beautiful community of West Reading.
