St. Joseph Foundation

The Saint Joseph Foundation began in 1982 as a small group of lay Catholics in San Antonio under the name of Fidelity Forum of Texas. Its primary purpose was to conduct forums throughout the United States and Canada in an attempt to ameliorate the liturgical irregularities, doctrinal confusion and abusive governance that became commonplace following the Second Vatican Council. In 1983, a new Code of Canon Law came into force and we realized that the rights of the faithful it defined included the right to true teaching, worship according to the lawful norms and proper governance. Informing the faithful and assisting them to protect these rights soon became our primary purpose and Fidelity Forum became the Saint Joseph Foundation on November 1, 1984. Its first office was the founders’ laundry room.

Today, the Foundation leases a 1,500 square foot suite of offices in northwest San Antonio, which accommodates our fulltime staff of 4 and our extensive library. We also have a group of canon lawyers who serve on a contract basis to prepare canonical analyses and commentary.
