More about St. Luke's Presbyterian Church of Titusville, FL

Our Story --

In the mid1960’s, the unincorporated community of Indian River City had begun to bulge with new homes for space engineers and their families. The Presbytery of St. John’s of the Presbyterian Church in the United States, saw a need for outreach for Christ in this neighborhood. Land was purchased at 1405 Montego Street. The Reverend Hugh Hamilton accepted a call from the Church Extension Committee. A congregation of 34 persons met with Reverend Hamilton on October 31, 1965 at the Indian River Civic Center. A congregation of 87 received its charter of organization from Presbytery, and chose the name of Saint Luke’s Presbyterian Church on May 1, 1966.

Gifts of money came from individuals and the Presbytery, and in January 1967, Church Plan One began, which included a fellowship hall-kitchen, six Sunday school rooms, and a church office. On Father’s Day, the congregation, 125 strong, worshiped in the new building for the first time.

In December, 1970, the Reverend William R. Barron became the second pastor.

In God’s mysterious providence, an unknown gentleman, Mr. T.K. Lee of New York City, gave $104,562.78 to be used for evangelism in Titusville. Plans for a sanctuary were begun, and it was completed in 1974.

The ministry of St. Luke’s was led by The Reverend Dr. James B. Reaves from 1978-1984, by The Reverend Keith Curran from 1985-1993, and by The Reverend Jay Seabrook from 1995-2012.

In June of 2014, the congregation called The Reverend Jody Noble as its pastor.

Over the years St. Luke’s has been active in supporting overseas mission work through the Brevard Indian River Presbyterian Missions (B.I.R.P.) Conference, has been active in ministry in the Titusville area and has supported the ministries of Central Florida Presbytery.
