St. Mary of the Woods School is one of seven parochial schools in the Diocese of Owensboro, Kentucky. The first resident pastor of the Parish in 1878, Reverend Kyron King, founded the school in 1879, and hired Mr. John Kelly as its first teacher.
Since 1882 Franciscan Sisters, Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, and now Ursuline Sisters ministered in the school over a 132-year history of serving the parish needs for Catholic education. Today, this rural setting is school for children in preschool through grade 8.
St. Mary of the Woods School is accredited by the Kentucky Non-Public School Commission and is a member of the National Catholic Education Association.
