St. Matthias' Episcopal Church, Devine, TX

This church was organized in 1973 by local residents of Devine under the leadership of Roberta Hundley, and was sponsored by Christ Church in San Antonio, TX. The mission was officially founded by Bishop Gosnell. The first vicar was the Rev. Frank Ambuhl. The first service was held in May 1973 at St. Joseph's School Building.
The church building was completed in 1975 and dedicated by Bishop Dicus on October 29, 1975. It was concecrated by Bishop Bailey on October 26, 1983.
The church continues to be a mission of the diocese. It is located in Medina County and is a member of the Central Convocation.
