More about St. Paul's Episcopal Church

Members have described our services as joyful, and many find receiving communion to be an important part of their spiritual life. Sermons are based on scripture readings for the day, and touch on current events and Christian practices (and run about 10 mins). A choir leads us in hymns. Children are part of the service (though a nursery for 5&under offers parents a break). 40-50 people in attendance, normally. There is a bulletin that shows the order of service and page #s in our Book of Common Prayer and Hymnal. If it's your first visit to an Episcopal Church, you may find it helpful to mark a few pages beforehand. Someone will be happy to sit near you and help you find your place.

It is a down-to-earth, warm congregation. There are people who grew up in an Episcopal Church (including a few who grew up here), and many more who come from other traditions. There are seekers and occasional visitors who are not members but who join us from time to time. We have a range of socioeconomic backgrounds as well as political and theological views. We have lots of retired people, and a handful of families with school aged children and/or babies. There are opportunities for spiritual formation for kids and adults. We actively pursue opportunities to serve people in our community through outreach ministries in nursing homes, laundromats, the local Green Market, and area schools.

You are welcome among us. You may find that you enjoy the beauty of the music and the language of the prayers. You'll find moments of quiet, and chance to shake your neighbor's hand and wish him/her peace. You are welcome to watch, listen, be, and participate or not, as you feel comfortable.
