St. Thomas Nursery School

Our program affirms a respect for the value and dignity of each child as a unique creation of God. In all matters the Nursery School staff and board members are guided by a Christian concern for children and families we serve. Families of all faiths are welcome to attend our school The Nursery School is located in the education building of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Terrace Park, Ohio. We are the oldest licensed preschool in the State of Ohio, having celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2008. The Nursery School is an extension of the outreach ministry of St. Thomas Church and is operated on a not-for profit basis by the Rector, Wardens, and Vestry of St. Thomas Church.

About usThe Nursery School serves 170 children ages 2-5. We offer a variety of different sessions depending on the child’s age. The morning sessions are 9:00-11:30 and afternoon sessions are 12:30-3:00. Our program is a unique hybrid of play-based and Montessori philosophies. Our curriculum adheres to the State of Ohio’s Early Learning & Development Standards, which ensures that each child is well prepared to be successful in kindergarten. Each day, every child has the opportunity to create, explore their environment, practice problem-solving and personal interaction skills, and learn a wide variety of concepts through both self-directed and teacher directed activities. We also offer special enrichment programs throughout the year that allows children to have an extended day while engaging in various activities that will supplement their regular class. Such programs include Discovery Friday (a science enrichment class), Lunch Bunch, Pizza and Picasso (an art enrichment class), Cooks and a Book (a cooking and literacy enrichment class), Christmas Joy, Summer Fun, and “So Long Summer Days.”
