Stage and Spotlights Community Theatre

OUR STORY - MORE THAN JUST A STAGE

Stage and Spotlights is a new community theater group based in Savage, Minnesota that is coming on our second theatrical season. Our story of creation came to be from an unexpected twist. We were involved with a local community theater’s production of Disney's High School Musical. The pre-production phase was already underway. Auditions had just concluded and the cast list was sent out to all those casted in the show. Rehearsals were about to begin when the tables turned a few days later. The theater group decided to pull the show and cancel it even though the show had already been announced and the parts were cast.

At this point we had a complete cast and crew and a group of very talented people that were excited to be in High School Musical. Everyone was so disappointed upon hearing this news, including many of us producing the show. Rather than allowing the show to not happen at all, we resolved and decided that the show must still go on!

To accomplish this, we created a new theater group, set up a GoFundMe fundraiser and set off on a mission to put on an incredible production of Disney’s High School Musical. We started without support, the rights, or any idea what would happen in the coming months. All we knew was that the show would happen, somehow. By working together, it finally did happen! After a lot of hard work and a few months later, Stage and Spotlights debuted our first theatrical season with four performances of the show. The audiences were delighted each and every night. The production was a success!

Today we are looking ahead to what we would like Stage and Spotlights to become while launching our second season of shows along with our retail website. We are truly thankful for the opportunities that have come to us thus far and are positively excited and optimistic for the future to come.
